Diagnostic criteria for mania
Manic episodes are dominated by elevated mood, which is disproportionate to the situation, and can range from elation to ecstasy, and in some cases only irritability. In mild cases, the social function is not damaged or only slightly damaged, and in severe cases, hallucinations, delusions and other psychotic symptoms may appear.
symptom criteria
Mainly high mood or irritability, at least 3 of the following items (if only irritability, at least 4 items):
Inattention or distraction;
The volume of speech increases;
Experience of rushing thinking (increased speech speed, urgency, etc.), accelerated association or erratic thoughts;
Self-evaluation is too high or exaggerated;
Energetic, non-fatiguing, increased activity, difficulty staying still, or constant changes in plans and activities;
Reckless behavior (such as profligate, responsible, or reckless behavior, etc.);
Reduced need for sleep;
Hypersexuality.
severe standard
Seriously impair social functions, or cause danger or adverse consequences to others.
Disease course standard
Meeting the symptom criteria and severe criteria has lasted for at least 1 week;
There may be some schizoid symptoms, but they do not meet the diagnostic criteria of schizophrenia. If the symptoms of schizophrenia are met at the same time, after the symptoms of schizophrenia are relieved, the criteria for manic episodes are met for at least 1 week.
exclusion criteria
Organic mental disorders, or mania due to psychoactive and nonaddictive substances were ruled out.

- Hypomania (hypomania)
The episode meets the criteria for a manic episode except for no or only mild impairment of social functioning.
- Mania without psychotic symptoms
Except for the addition of "no hallucinations, delusions, or psychotic symptoms such as catatonic syndrome" in the symptom criteria of 30 manic episodes, the rest meet this standard.
- Mania with psychotic symptoms
Except for the addition of "hallucinations, delusions, or psychotic symptoms such as catatonic syndrome" in the symptom criteria of 30 manic episodes, Yu all met the criteria.
recurrent mania
Diagnostic criteria
The current episode meets the criteria of one of the above-mentioned types of mania, and at least 2 months ago, there was one episode that met the criteria of one of the above-mentioned types of mania;
Never had a depressive disorder meeting any of the criteria for type 1 depression, bipolar disorder, or cyclothymic disorder;
Exclude organic mental disorders, or manic episodes caused by psychoactive substances and non-addictive substances.
