Probiotics effective in patients with irritable bowel syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome is a functional disease, and multiple examinations have not found organic diseases in the intestines. Its clinical manifestations are mainly abdominal discomfort or abdominal pain, increased frequency of defecation, changes in stool properties and relief of abdominal pain after defecation, etc. Because the disease has the clinical characteristics of high morbidity and recurrence rate, and is difficult to be completely cured, it will affect the daily life of patients for a long time, repeatedly or continuously, and bring a lot of inconvenience to patients.

Causes of irritable bowel syndrome

The etiology of irritable bowel syndrome is not yet fully understood. The known influencing factors include visceral hyperesthesia, abnormal intestinal motility, abnormal colonic secretion and absorption, changes in gastrointestinal hormones, negative emotions, and gastrointestinal flora imbalance. In short, the etiology of irritable bowel syndrome is more complex, so any single therapy is difficult to be effective. Therefore, once the diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome is confirmed, comprehensive therapy must be used for treatment in order to strive for satisfactory curative effect.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome Treatment

Comprehensive therapy for irritable bowel syndrome includes non-drug therapy and drug therapy, generally based on drug therapy, supplemented by non-drug therapy, that is, diet conditioning and emotional regulation.

In the drug treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, in addition to routine gastrointestinal antispasmodics and symptomatic treatment, probiotic preparations should also be considered. Probiotic preparations can adjust the balance of intestinal flora, stimulate the body's immunity, and form effective chemical and biological barriers in the intestinal tract, which is not only conducive to disease control, but also produces two major benefits.

①It can reduce intestinal sensitivity;

②Effectively prevent pathogenic bacteria and inflammatory factors from stimulating the intestinal tract.

These two benefits are conducive to relieving symptoms and reducing recurrence. Therefore, many clinicians have used probiotics in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, and achieved good results, with an effective rate of over 85%.

Due to the limitations of single-use probiotic preparations, it is usually used in combination with L-calcium ion antagonists such as pinaverium bromide clinically. Studies have shown that pinaverium bromide has a highly selective intestinal antispasmodic effect, can effectively reduce colonic cholinergic contraction activity and intestinal spasm, improve gastrointestinal dynamics, and form a synergistic effect with probiotics to enhance the curative effect, and There is no obvious side effect, and it has high safety and efficacy.

The routine clinical regimen is: bifidotriple live bacteria (Beficon) 2 capsules each time, once in the morning and evening; . Three months of combined medication is a course of treatment, and 2 to 3 courses of treatment can be taken according to the actual situation to consolidate the curative effect and avoid recurrence.
