Clinically, the real name of the hymen is " urethral valve " and " vaginal valve ", which is a layer of transverse mucosal folds at the bottom wall of the female urogenital vestibule and vagina, mainly used to protect the inside of the vagina.

The shape of the hymen varies from person to person . It can be umbrella-shaped, half-moon-shaped, ring-shaped, lip-shaped, or sieve-shaped. Most women have this thin membrane, and very few women are born without it. This layer of membrane is not closed, it is "broken" itself, with holes of various shapes to facilitate the flow of menstrual blood.

The complete hymen without holes that many people pursue is actually a kind of pathology , clinically called "atresia", which is one of the causes of women's dysmenorrhea.

In daily life, this thin layer of hymen may be ruptured, which may be caused by sexual behavior for the first time, cycling, horse riding, splits, heavy physical labor and other sports.

Second, there is really no need for revision surgery

Many women will pursue the integrity of the hymen due to the eyes of the society, and advertisements for hymen repair surgery can be seen everywhere in China. Is it really necessary to repair the hymen?

Hymen repair surgery, after the patient is given local anesthesia, the doctor trims the ruptured hymen neatly with scissors, and then sutures it with absorbable sutures or nylon threads, leaving a small hole in the ruptured membrane that can only pass through a finger. If the hymen is severely ruptured, a part of the patient's mucous membrane will be taken and another one will be created.

This operation is relatively simple and can usually be completed in half an hour, but no matter how big or small the operation is, there are certain risks .

First of all, the site of this operation is relatively special, and it is easy to be polluted by secretions, feces and urine, etc. The risk of postoperative infection is high, and postoperative complications may occur.

Secondly, because regular hospitals require real-name registration when performing such operations, many women are worried about being discovered, so they choose private clinics or even black clinics .
