45-year-old Ah Hua is a dishwasher in a restaurant. She usually squats down to wash dishes, and her feet feel numb for a while after washing.

But one time when she got up, she suddenly felt dizzy, her eyes were dark, and she almost fell down . Fortunately, the worker next to her helped her to stand still.

Ah Hua suspected it was anemia, so she bought red dates and brown sugar after get off work and soaked it in water to drink at home, but it didn't work for a while, and then she went to a nearby clinic to prescribe medicine. However, after more than a year of continuous treatment, there was no improvement, so I went to the hospital for examination.

It turned out to be bowel cancer, and it was severe anemia. The doctor pointed out that Ah Hua’s anemia was caused by bowel cancer, so other treatment methods had no effect. After the consultation, it was found that Ah Hua had abdominal pain, dark She just waited for the symptoms, but she didn't understand and didn't take it seriously, which led to the delay of the disease.

1. The persistent anemia is bowel cancer, why?

About 5% of bowel cancer patients visit the hospital due to long-term anemia. Many patients have no symptoms of bowel cancer, so why does bowel cancer cause anemia?

First of all, after bowel cancer occurs, the mucosa on the surface of the cancer may erode and bleed, causing chronic blood loss and easily leading to anemia.

The proliferation and growth of intestinal cancer requires a large amount of nutrients, which may lead to excessive consumption of hematopoietic raw materials, thereby inducing anemia. In addition, the metastases of colon cancer in the late stage may destroy the hematopoietic system, resulting in decreased bone marrow hematopoietic reserve function, and may also lead to anemia.

Colorectal cancer with anemia as the first symptom mostly occurs in the right colon .

In addition to anemia, right-sided colon cancer may also be accompanied by symptoms such as abnormal weight loss, fatigue, abdominal mass, abdominal pain, and persistent low-grade fever . Anemia caused by bowel cancer is generally common among middle-aged and elderly people. Most of these people are relatively obese and prefer a high-protein and high-fat diet.

2. Dizziness and dark eyes when standing up after squatting for a long time, is it anemia?

Sometimes after squatting on the toilet or doing other things for a long time, we may experience dizziness and dark eyes. Is this caused by anemia?

After getting up suddenly, the phenomenon of black eyes appears, also known as transient amaurosis. It can be relieved by itself. This situation is actually related to many factors.

1. Orthostatic hypotension

This is because when suddenly changing from a squatting position to a standing position, the blood in the head and chest and abdominal cavity quickly flows to the waist and legs due to gravity, resulting in temporary head ischemia, temporary cerebral ischemia, and retinal blood loss. After the supply dwindles, temporary hallucinations may occur.

2. Cardiovascular disease

For patients with cardiovascular diseases such as arrhythmia, myocardial infarction, and cardiogenic hypotension, the blood output of the heart may be disturbed, resulting in abnormal blood supply throughout the body, causing sudden darkening of the eyes.

3. Hypoglycemia, anemia

Anemia or hypoglycemia may also cause sudden dizziness and black eyes, but this dizziness may occur at any time.

4. Cervical spondylosis

Lowering your head for a long time may cause cervical spondylosis, and may also cause dizziness.

The common anemia is mainly iron deficiency anemia, such as insufficient iron intake in infants, breastfeeding women, and pregnant women; iron absorption obstacles after subtotal gastrectomy; long-term hemoptysis, gastrointestinal blood loss, menstrual Excessive iron loss caused by excessive amounts, etc., may cause iron deficiency anemia.

Fatigue , shortness of breath, pale skin, dry skin, brittle nails, pica, recurrent infections , etc. may be caused by iron deficiency anemia.

3. Red dates, brown sugar...in fact, it does not nourish blood!

Many people may buy some red dates, brown sugar, and donkey-hide gelatin to replenish blood after they develop anemia. In fact, these are unreliable.

Foods such as red dates, brown sugar, donkey-hide gelatin, etc. actually do not enrich the blood, and red foods cannot enrich the blood. The color of the food is related to the pigment, which does not contain iron. In comparison, the iron content of plant foods is far less than that of animal foods .

It is these three foods that can really nourish blood.

1. Animal liver

Pig liver and other animal livers not only contain high iron content, but also have a high absorption and utilization rate. However, due to the high vitamin A content in pig liver, eating too much may cause fetal malformation. It is recommended that pregnant women eat less animal liver.

2. Red meat

Red meat such as beef, pork, and mutton is also rich in hemoglobin iron and can be eaten in moderation. However, eating too much red meat may increase the risk of cancer, so we must control the amount we eat.

3. Animal blood

The content of heme iron in animal blood is very high, the absorption rate is relatively high, and the fat content is not high, so it is a good food for nourishing blood.

In addition to being caused by insufficient nutrition, anemia may also be an early warning of disease or cancer. Be alert to persistent anemia, which may be a distress signal from bowel cancer.

You can’t rely on red dates, red beans, donkey-hide gelatin and other foods to replenish blood. You can eat animal foods such as red meat, animal liver, and animal blood in order to replenish blood. You must also ensure a balanced and comprehensive diet.
