When buying fruit pomegranates, do you choose "round" or "square"? The taste is very different, learn not to pick the wrong one

Autumn is the harvest season, and it is also the time when a large number of fruits and vegetables are on the market, including my favorite fruit, pomegranate. The first pomegranate I ate was hard-seed pomegranate. Because it was too troublesome to spit out the seeds, I simply stayed away from it. Later, I ate pomegranates with soft seeds that do not need to spit out seeds. Since then, pomegranates have become my must-buy fruit every autumn.

As a fruit pomegranate lover, I have also worked hard and done a lot of research on how to choose pomegranates. I also consulted some fruit farmers for advice. Today, Lazy Miao will talk to you about the topic of picking pomegranates, and share with you a set of the simplest methods to pick juicy and sweet pomegranates.

Before talking about the method, let me ask you a question:

In the picture below, the pomegranate on the left is round and red, while the pomegranate on the right has yellow skin and a square shape. Which pomegranate do you think tastes better? I believe that most people will choose the pomegranate in the picture on the left. After all, it looks better and looks better. Is this really the case?

Keep in mind the "3 Looks", the pomegranate is ripe and sweet

In fact, buying a pomegranate is not as difficult as imagined. When you choose a pomegranate, you only need to remember to focus on three parts. They are the shape of the pomegranate, the color of the peel, and the state of the bottom. Let me tell you about them one by one.

1. Look at the shape of the pomegranate

In the cognition of many friends, it is better to think that the fruit is round, and the rounder it is, the better it grows, but this is not true for pomegranates.

Pomegranates that look good are usually big and round, but such pomegranates have thick skins and are probably not yet fully ripe, so they taste a bit astringent. What we want to pick is a pomegranate with a square shape and a round shape, that is, a bit angular. Such a pomegranate has a thinner peel and a higher degree of maturity, so the taste will naturally not be bad.

Therefore, the "first look" when buying a pomegranate is to look at the shape of the pomegranate. It is best to buy a pomegranate with a square shape. Such a pomegranate usually tastes better than a round pomegranate.

2. Look at the color of the peel

After looking at the shape, the next thing we need to look at is the color of the pomegranate's peel.

If you carefully observe the pomegranates sold in the market, you will find that some pomegranates are pure red, and red is the main color of the fruit skin, while some pomegranates do not look so red, but yellow with red. Obviously, the former looks better, but the conclusion is that the good-looking ones usually have a slightly worse taste.

During the natural growth process of pomegranate, it will receive sunlight. When the light level is sufficient, the color of the pomegranate skin will be red, but this does not mean that the taste is good, and it is usually slightly sour. For a really delicious pomegranate, the peel should be reddish-yellow. If the peel is blue, the pomegranate is not yet ripe, so don't buy it.

Therefore, the "second look" when buying pomegranates is to look at the color of the pomegranate's peel. It is best to buy pomegranates with yellowish reddish peels. Such pomegranates taste sweeter and less astringent.

3. Look at the bottom of the pomegranate

After looking at the shape and the color of the peel, the third place to look at is the bottom of the pomegranate. There is a "organ" in this place, which looks protruding. From this part, we can judge whether the pomegranate is fully ripe.

If the bottom part is completely cracked, like a blooming flower, it means that the pomegranate is ripe, and the pomegranate seeds inside will be redder, and the taste will be sweeter; Blooming flowers are the same, indicating that they are not very ripe yet. Such pomegranate seeds are white and the taste is usually not good.

Therefore, the "third look" when buying a pomegranate is to look at the state of the bottom of the pomegranate. The pomegranate that is completely cracked at the raised part of the bottom is preferred. Such a pomegranate indicates that it is ripe and tastes sweeter.

1 Quick Way to Peel Pomegranate Seeds

After understanding how to use the "3-look" method to select pomegranates, let me teach you a simple method to peel pomegranates. Using this method, it is effortless to peel pomegranate seeds.
