Buy fruit pomegranate, choose "round" or "square"? The taste is very different, learn not to pick the wrong one

Autumn is the harvest season, and it is also the season when a lot of fruits and vegetables are on the market, including my favorite fruit, pomegranate. The first pomegranate I ate was a hard-seed pomegranate, because it was too troublesome to spit out the seeds, so I simply stayed away. Later, I ate soft-seeded pomegranates without spit seeds. Since then, pomegranates have become a must-buy fruit for me every autumn.

As a fruit pomegranate collector, I have also put a lot of effort into how to choose pomegranates, and have done a lot of research, and I also consulted some uncles of fruit farmers. Today, Lazy Meow will talk to you about the topic of picking pomegranates, and share with you the easiest way to pick juicy, meaty and sweet pomegranates.

Before talking about the method, let me ask you one question:

In the picture below, the pomegranate on the left is round and red, and the pomegranate on the right has a yellow peel and a square shape. Which pomegranate do you think tastes better? I believe that most people will choose the pomegranate in the picture on the left. After all, it has a higher value and looks better. Is this really the case?

Keep in mind "3 look", pomegranates are cooked and sweet

In fact, buying pomegranates is not as difficult as you think. When choosing a pomegranate, you only need to remember to focus on three parts. They are the shape of the pomegranate, the color of the peel, and the state of the bottom. Let me tell you one by one.

1. Look at the shape of the pomegranate

In the cognition of many friends, they will think that the fruit is round and round, and the rounder means the better the growth, but this is not true for pomegranate.

A pomegranate that looks good on the outside is usually big and round, but such a pomegranate has a thick skin, and it is very likely that it is not fully ripe, so the taste will be a bit astringent. What we want to pick is a pomegranate with a square shape and a circle, that is, a little angular. Such a pomegranate has a thinner peel and a higher degree of maturity, so the taste will naturally not be bad.

Therefore, the "first look" when buying a pomegranate is to look at the shape of the pomegranate. It is better to buy a pomegranate with a square shape. Such a pomegranate will usually taste better than a round pomegranate.

2. Look at the peel color

After looking at the shape, the next thing we will look at is the color of the pomegranate peel.

If you carefully observe the pomegranates sold in the market, you will find that some pomegranates are pure red, and red is the main color of the peel, while some pomegranates look less red, but yellow with red. Obviously, the former looks better, but the conclusion is that good-looking, usually tastes a little worse.

In the process of natural growth, pomegranates will receive sunlight. When the light level is sufficient, the color of the pomegranate skin will be redder, but this does not mean that the taste is good, and it is usually slightly sour. And the really delicious pomegranate, the peel should be yellow with red. If the peel is blue, the pomegranate is not ripe yet, so don't buy it.

Therefore, the "second look" when buying pomegranates is to look at the color of the pomegranate peel. It is preferable to buy pomegranates with yellow and red peels. Such pomegranates taste sweeter and less astringent.

3. Look at the bottom of the pomegranate

After looking at the shape and peel color, the third place to look at is the bottom of the pomegranate, where there is a "trap" that looks protruding. From this part, we can judge whether the pomegranate is fully ripe.

If the bottom part is completely cracked, like a blooming flower, it means that the pomegranate is ripe, and the pomegranate seeds inside will be redder, and the taste will be sweeter; Like blooming flowers, it means that it is not very ripe. Such pomegranate seeds are white, and the taste is usually not good.

Therefore, the "third look" when buying pomegranates is to look at the bottom of the pomegranate, preferably the pomegranate that is completely cracked at the protruding part of the bottom.

1 quick way to peel pomegranate seeds

After learning how to choose pomegranates with the "3-look" method, let's teach you a simple way to peel pomegranates. Using this method, you can peel pomegranate seeds without any effort.

Here is an example of how it works:

Step 1: At the bottom of the pomegranate, use a knife to draw a square on the peel, and then peel off the drawn pomegranate peel;

The second step : around the peel of the pomegranate, along the white silk that can be seen at the bottom opening, draw a few more edges, and then peel it off by hand;

Step 3 : Tap the peeled pomegranate with a spoon and knock the pomegranate seeds into the bowl.

In 3 easy steps, a pomegranate is peeled.
