What is scrotal dampness

Scrotal dampness is one of the common diseases in andrology, which refers to abnormal sensations such as sweating, dampness or coldness on the surface of the scrotum skin. It is an allergic inflammatory skin disease, which seriously affects the normal life and work of patients.

From the perspective of the anatomical structure of the scrotum, the sweat glands in the male scrotum are relatively developed, and there are a large number of sebaceous glands, which have a certain contraction function, so that the local temperature can be adjusted. Due to a variety of reasons such as prolonged sitting, excessive sweating, high ambient temperature or wearing tight underwear, the local temperature of the scrotum increases, and the secretion of sweat and sebaceous glands increases. The sweat and sebum secreted in large quantities cannot be distributed in time, and they are mixed together, causing symptoms of dampness, itching, stickiness and discomfort in the scrotum.

Scrotal eczema belongs to the category of "kidney capsule wind" in traditional Chinese medicine, commonly known as "hydrangea wind". Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this disease is mostly caused by exogenous or internal injury, dampness and heat, and usually occurs symmetrically, often affecting the entire scrotum, the affected area is extremely itchy, the course of the disease is prolonged, recurrent, and difficult to cure. The disease is divided into acute and chronic, the acute phase is equivalent to "erosive type", and the chronic phase is equivalent to "dry type". If it is treated early and actively, it can usually be cured, but some patients will have recurrent attacks after being cured.

What are the causes of wet scrotum

There are many reasons for the dampness of the scrotum, such as prolonged sitting and sweating, fungal growth, drug allergies, and lack of vitamins. Generally, there are two major factors, namely physiological and pathological reasons.

physiological factors

Sitting in a hot environment for a long time sweats more, the local temperature of the scrotum rises, the heat cannot be dissipated in time, and the sweat secretion of the scrotal skin increases;

The underwear is tight, especially the chemical fiber underwear, the scrotum has been squeezed and tightly closed for a long time, and it is airtight;

The scrotum is unclean, bacteria grow, itching occurs, and scratching with hands will aggravate the symptoms;

Bad eating habits, such as drinking a lot of alcohol, eating spicy food, etc., can lead to hot and humid, thick and greasy tongue coating, yellow and red urine, dry stool, and prone to wet scrotum.

In addition, people with allergies, spleen deficiency and kidney deficiency, vitamin deficiency, long-term mental stress, large emotional changes, drug allergies, etc., are all predisposing factors for scrotal dampness.

pathological factors

The dampness of the scrotum in most patients is pathological, such as chronic prostatitis, varicocele, scrotal eczema and other diseases, which may cause dampness in the scrotum.

One of the typical symptoms of chronic prostatitis is the dampness of the scrotum. Due to the inflammatory exudation of the congested and edema of the prostate, it is easy to cause dampness of the scrotum.

The probability of scrotal dampness in varicocele is very high. This is because such diseases can easily lead to scrotal vasodilation, increased blood flow in the scrotum, and increased scrotal temperature, which can easily lead to increased perspiration, which can easily lead to scrotal scrotum over time. damp.

There are also orchitis, seminal vesiculitis, scrotal eczema, tinea cruris, etc., because the inner side of the thigh is infected by bacteria, these bacteria will also spread to the scrotum, causing symptoms such as flushing, itching, papules, and inflammation of the scrotal skin, causing the scrotum to be damp.

Early prevention of scrotal wetness is critical

Traditional Chinese medicine has always advocated "to cure the disease before it is cured", emphasizing that prevention is the priority and prevention is the first. To prevent scrotum dampness, "five attentions" should be done in daily life.

1. Pay attention to cleanliness and hygiene

The male genital area is relatively concealed, and daily attention should be paid to maintaining local skin hygiene. If the cleaning is not frequent and thorough, it can cause the scrotum to be wet, smelly, and itchy. Therefore, the scrotum area should be cleaned regularly. Remember not to scald with hot water, and do not wash with irritating soap, salt water, alkaline water, etc. to avoid adverse irritation. Keeping the local area fresh, dry and hygienic can reduce the occurrence of inflammation.

Second, pay attention not to be too tight underwear

The skin of the male scrotum is soft. If you wear tight underwear, the air is not ventilated, the humidity is high, and the sweat is often impregnated, not only will the scrotum become wet, but it will also cause a variety of skin diseases. Therefore, you should choose underwear that is loose and comfortable, pure cotton material, strong water absorption and good breathability, preferably pocket underwear, which has good hygroscopicity, breathability and reduces friction. Also pay attention to timely replacement and cleaning, especially after exercise or in hot summer, to clean and change underwear in time.

3. Be careful to avoid prolonged sitting

If you sit for a long time, especially if you are obese, the temperature of the scrotum will increase, which will cause you to sweat a lot, and the sweat will soak the scrotum and cause disease. In addition, long-term sitting will make the blood circulation in the scrotum area poor, easily cause moisture accumulation, and the scrotum will be wet. Therefore, you should avoid sitting for a long time, and sit for an hour and stand for ten minutes. Proper exercise should be carried out at ordinary times to promote the smooth flow of blood in the scrotum and prevent the scrotum from getting wet. Do not scratch, rub, or rub the scrotum.

Fourth, pay attention to develop good living habits

Maintain a good state of mind, avoid irritability and mental tension, and keep your mind relaxed and comfortable. Reasonable diet, light diet, balanced nutrition, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, drink more water, eat more food with high vitamin content, eat less cold, fatty, spicy and irritating food, quit smoking and drinking. Also pay attention to rest, do not stay up all night often, and let the skin have more time to rest.

Scrotal dampness can also be caused by other primary diseases, so it is necessary to prevent and treat corresponding diseases as soon as possible, such as prostatitis, scrotal eczema, varicocele, balanitis, scrotal skin infection, etc. Usually, preventive work should be done as soon as possible to isolate allergens, etc., to avoid pathogenic factors. Once an abnormal situation is found, you should go to a regular hospital as soon as possible to ask a doctor to find the cause, treat it symptomatically, and remove the lesion.
