What is scrotal dampness
Dampness of the scrotum is one of the common diseases in andrology. It refers to abnormal sensations such as hyperhidrosis, dampness or coolness on the skin surface of the scrotum. It is an allergic inflammatory skin disease, which seriously affects the normal life and work of patients.
From the perspective of the anatomical structure of the scrotum, the sweat glands in the male scrotum are relatively developed, and there are a large number of sebaceous glands, which have a certain contraction function, which can regulate the local temperature. Due to various reasons such as long-term sedentary, excessive sweating, high ambient temperature, or wearing tight underwear, the local temperature of the scrotum increases, and the secretion of sweat and sebaceous glands increases. The sweat and sebum secreted in a large amount cannot be dissipated in time, and mixed together, symptoms of dampness, itching, stickiness and discomfort in the scrotum appear.
Scrotal eczema belongs to the category of "kidney cyst wind" in traditional Chinese medicine, commonly known as "hydrangea wind". Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this disease is mostly caused by exogenous or internal injury, damp heat betting, usually occurs symmetrically, often spreads to the entire scrotum, and the affected area is extremely itchy. The disease can be divided into acute and chronic. The acute phase is equivalent to the "erosive type", and the chronic phase is equivalent to the "dry type". If it is treated early and positively, it can generally be cured, but some patients will relapse after being cured.
What are the causes of dampness in the scrotum?
There are many reasons for scrotal dampness, such as sedentary sweating, fungal growth, drug allergies, and lack of vitamins. Generally, there are two major factors, namely, physiological reasons and pathological reasons.
Physiological factors
If you sit for a long time in a hot environment and sweat a lot, the local temperature of the scrotum rises, the heat cannot be dissipated in time, and the sweat secretion of the scrotum skin increases;
The underwear is tight, especially the chemical fiber underwear, and the scrotum is squeezed and closed for a long time, making it airtight;
The scrotum is unclean, bacteria breed, and itching occurs. Scratching with hands will aggravate the symptoms;
Bad eating habits, such as drinking a lot of alcohol, eating spicy food, etc., can lead to dampness and heat, thick and greasy tongue coating, yellow and red urine, dry stool, and dampness in the scrotum.
In addition, people with allergies, deficiency of the spleen and kidney, lack of vitamins, long-term nervousness, large emotional fluctuations, and drug allergies are all predisposing factors for scrotal dampness.
pathological factors
The dampness of the scrotum in most patients is pathological, such as chronic prostatitis, varicocele, eczema of the scrotum, etc., may cause dampness in the scrotum.
One of the typical symptoms of chronic prostatitis is dampness in the scrotum. Due to the congestion and edema of the prostate gland, there will be inflammatory exudation, which can easily cause dampness in the scrotum.
The probability of scrotal dampness in varicocele is very high. This is because such diseases can easily lead to scrotal blood vessel dilation, increased blood flow in the scrotal area, and increased scrotal temperature, which can easily lead to increased perspiration. Over time, it is easy to cause scrotal swelling. wet.
There are also orchitis, seminal vesiculitis, eczema of the scrotum, jock itch, etc. Because the inner thighs are infected by bacteria, these bacteria will also spread to the scrotum, causing symptoms such as flushing, itching, pimples, and inflammation of the scrotum skin, resulting in dampness of the scrotum.
Early prevention of scrotal dampness is essential
Traditional Chinese medicine has always advocated "not treating the disease and treating the disease before it", emphasizing that prevention is the first priority. To prevent dampness of the scrotum, "five attentions" should be achieved in daily life.
1. Pay attention to cleanliness
The male genital area is relatively hidden, and daily care should be taken to maintain local skin hygiene. If the cleaning is not frequent and thorough, it can cause dampness, odor, and itching of the scrotum. Therefore, the scrotum should be cleaned regularly. Remember not to wash with hot water, and do not wash with irritating soap, salt water, alkaline water, etc., to avoid adverse irritation. Keeping the area clean, dry and hygienic can reduce the occurrence of inflammation.
Second, pay attention to underwear not too tight
The skin of male scrotum is delicate. If you wear tight underwear, the air will not circulate, the humidity will be high, and sweat will often impregnate it, which will not only cause scrotum dampness, but also cause a variety of skin diseases. Therefore, you should choose loose and comfortable underwear made of pure cotton, strong water absorption, and good air permeability, preferably pouch underwear, which has good moisture absorption, air permeability, and reduces friction. Also pay attention to timely replacement and cleaning, especially after exercise or in hot summer, clean and change underwear in time.
3. Pay attention to avoid sitting for a long time
If you sit for a long time, especially if you are obese, the temperature of the scrotum will increase, resulting in excessive sweating, which will soak the scrotum and cause disease. In addition, sitting for a long time will cause poor blood circulation in the scrotum, which will easily cause moisture accumulation and dampness in the scrotum. Therefore, avoid sitting for a long time, and stand for ten minutes after sitting for an hour. It is necessary to carry out appropriate exercise at ordinary times to promote the smooth flow of blood in the scrotum and prevent the scrotum from being damp. Do not scratch, rub, or rub the scrotum.
4. Pay attention to develop good living habits
Maintain a good attitude, avoid emotional impatience and mental tension, and relax and relax your mind. Reasonable diet, light diet, balanced nutrition, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, drink plenty of water, eat more foods with high vitamin content, eat less raw, cold, greasy, spicy and irritating foods, quit smoking and drinking. Also pay attention to rest, don't stay up late frequently, let the skin have more time to rest.
5. Pay attention to the prevention and treatment of related diseases
Scrotal dampness can also be caused by other primary diseases, so it is necessary to prevent and treat corresponding diseases as soon as possible, such as prostatitis, eczema of the scrotum, varicocele, balanitis, and skin infection of the scrotum. Usually, preventive work should be done as soon as possible, and allergens should be isolated to avoid pathogenic factors. Once abnormalities are found, you should go to a regular hospital as soon as possible to ask a doctor to find out the cause, give symptomatic treatment, and get rid of the focus.
