Misunderstandings in the treatment of genital itching

Vulvar itching is a common symptom of gynecological diseases. Itching often occurs in the clitoris and labia minora area. Severe cases can involve the labia majora, the entire vaginal opening, perineum, anus, and even the inner thighs. Women of any age may occur.

Common mistakes in treatment

Misunderstanding 1: Blindly cleaning and disinfecting the vulva

Many very "fine" women mistakenly think that the vulva is a dirty place, and wash them with soap, hot water, salt water or cleaning solution every night; some irrigate their vaginas every day, and even put their hands in to wash them. In fact, excessive cleaning and disinfection of the vulva and vagina will not only easily bring pathogenic bacteria into the vagina, but also because the lotion will change the pH value in the vagina, destroy the distribution and mutual restriction of the normal flora in the vagina, and make the condition pathogenic. Bacteria multiply, causing vaginal inflammation, making itching worse, and even causing more serious consequences such as perianal inflammation, cystitis, and retrograde pyelonephritis.

Misunderstanding 2: Casual application of "pine" hormone drugs

After some patients develop genital itching, they apply drugs containing "pine" hormones. Although they were effective at the time, they became more itchy after stopping the drugs, and the more they were treated, the more stubborn they became, and they even persisted for many years. Whether you need to use hormones, must be carried out under the guidance of a doctor.

Misunderstanding 3: Blindly cleaning with lotion

Lotions are modern women's "best weapon" against vaginal inflammation, but many women buy lotions blindly and haphazardly. No matter what the situation, if the vulva or vagina is uncomfortable, buy a lotion to clean it. The lotion is divided into acid and alkali, and the application is very particular. Vaginal candidiasis (that is, fungal vaginitis), alkaline lotion should be used. For example, the Jieeryin lotion that everyone usually uses is not suitable, and potassium permanganate solution (PP powder) is also not suitable; Trichomonas Vaginitis is manifested as local vaginal itching and thin foamy leucorrhea. Acidic lotions should be used, such as chlorhexidine acetate, Jieeryin lotion or potassium permanganate solution. At the same time, vaginitis also requires other drugs, such as some suppositories and oral drugs.

The key is to find the cause

There are local factors and systemic factors that cause genital itching.

Common local causes are vaginitis, such as Candida or Trichomonas infection; vulvar white lesions; urinary irritation such as urinary incontinence, diabetes, urinary fistula; drug allergy or chemical substance irritation; pubic lice, young girls suffering from enterobiasis, scabies etc. and genital itching after menopause.

Itching may also be a symptom of systemic diseases, such as vitamin (A, B) deficiency, diabetes, jaundice, leukemia or allergies; some patients may be caused by mental factors and excessive fatigue.

There are so many factors that cause genital itching. The key to treatment is to find the cause and remove the root of the disease. After women experience itching symptoms, they must go to the gynecology department in time, receive local and systemic examinations, and correctly use external medicines or oral medicines under the guidance of doctors. Usually, we should develop good personal hygiene habits, keep the vulva clean, wash the shower frequently, wear loose underwear, avoid scratching, and spicy food.

It is necessary to remind everyone that women should not use lotion for longer than the standard course of treatment. Due to the destruction of the balance of the micro-ecological environment of the vagina, they are more likely to suffer from vaginitis, resulting in frequent attacks.
