How far is cervical cancer from us?

According to the statistics of the World Health Organization in 2021, there are 525,000 new cases of cervical cancer and 275,000 deaths worldwide each year, of which China accounts for 1/5 of the world. That is to say, one in every 30 to 35 women unfortunately suffers from cervical cancer. Every two minutes, another woman in the world may die of cervical cancer.

01. After dating 5 boyfriends in two years, he was diagnosed with precancerous lesions at the age of 18

18-year-old Xiao Li (pseudonym) came to the hospital. After every intimate activity, she would always bleed for up to a month.

The examination revealed that Xiaoli was infected with the human papilloma virus HPV, had bacterial vaginosis, and had a high degree of cervical precancerous lesions.

The doctor is very strange, why is he suffering from precancerous lesions at such a young age? When I asked the reason, I realized that Xiao Li's parents neglected her and never cared about her study and personal life. At the age of 16, Xiao Li had already tasted the forbidden fruit. In just 2 years, I have dated 5 boyfriends , and none of them have taken safety measures.

Fortunately, it was discovered early, and Xiaoli could be saved through active treatment.

02. "Game of Life" after breaking up, dating 12 boyfriends in 3 years

28-year-old Xiao Zhang (pseudonym) was planning to marry her boyfriend. She went to the hospital to check her fertility a few years ago, but was found to have advanced cervical cancer.

The sweet-looking Xiao Zhang met a boy when she was 23 years old. At that time, she thought she would go with her boyfriend for "a lifetime", but the relationship was gone. After the boy proposed to break up, the heartbroken Xiao Zhang, I just want to get out of the "emotional injury" as soon as possible, so no one refuses.

The attitude towards relationships has also become a "game". In 3 years, he has dated 12 boyfriends, and has had 4 miscarriages before and after.

Until this year, Xiao Zhang finally wanted to stabilize. But recently, Xiao Zhang had frequent vaginal bleeding during intercourse. She went to the hospital and found out that the cervical cancer was in the middle stage. Because she missed the best period of surgery and drug treatment, she could only take radiotherapy. Not only did Xiao Zhang lose his fertility , he also had to fight the disease for the rest of his life...

1. It is the culprit of cervical cancer

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a very common reproductive tract viral infection, but "does HPV infection = cervical cancer"?

In fact, a study based on the American population found that the probability of sexually active men and women infected with HPV in their lifetime is as high as 80%-90%, but the proportion of cervical cancer is very small.

Generally, after the human body is infected with the virus, most of it will be cleared by the immune mechanism. However, the risk of HPV causing cancer is high in the following two situations:

1. Persistent infection with the virus

The main cause of cervical cancer is not infection with HPV, but because the body cannot remove the virus in time, so that the virus infection in the body enters a continuous stage.

Due to persistent infection, cervical cancer epithelial cell lesions are caused, and cervical precancerous lesions further appear, which in turn leads to cervical cancer. This process usually takes 25-30 years.

2. Infection with high-risk viruses

There are more than 200 kinds of HPV viruses, and about 40 kinds of HPV can infect the reproductive tract. According to carcinogenicity, it is divided into low-risk and high-risk types. There are mainly 12 high-risk HPV viruses, which have the risk of carcinogenicity, and the probability of causing cervical epithelial hyperplasia above grade II exceeds 90%.

There are mainly 11 low-risk types, which lead to less than 5% of cervical cancer.

In short, there is no need for everyone to talk about "HPV" discoloration. Women have a high probability of being infected with HPV in their lifetime, but most of them are transient, and only 5%-10% will continue to be infected. However, some people have an increased risk of cancer.

A study found that women whose first intimacy occurred before the age of 20 had a 2.53 times higher risk of cervical cancer than women who started after the age of 20. Premature sex puts an immature cervix at greater risk.

· Sexual life starts earlier;

The frequency of changing sexual partners is more frequent or the sexual partners have complex sexual relationships;

more than 2 vaginal deliveries;

Smoking or passive smoking;

· A family history of gynecological malignancies;

These 5 types of people are easy to be targeted by "viruses", so be sure to pay attention to regular inspections.

2. Several symptoms appear, be vigilant

There are no typical symptoms in the early stage of cervical cancer, which also causes many patients to miss the best treatment stage when they are discovered. So what if physical abnormalities are detected at an early stage?

First of all, it is necessary to determine whether you belong to a high-risk group that is prone to cervical cancer.

Secondly, pay attention to some of the more typical symptoms of yourself, such as abnormal vaginal bleeding, including bleeding after intercourse, bloodshot leucorrhea, postmenopausal vaginal bleeding, etc.; abnormal vaginal discharge, pain, etc.

Under the development of the disease, there may also be abnormal drainage like rice water and thick.

In the advanced stage, as the tumor spreads, the patient may also experience obstructive symptoms, such as pelvic compression, pelvic pain, ureter compression, and hydronephrosis. Swelling of lower extremities, abdominal distention, etc.

It may be more serious when you are obviously thin and unable to eat.

3. To prevent cervical cancer, keep the three lines of defense

Cervical cancer is caused by persistent HPV infection, which means that cervical cancer can be effectively prevented by preventing the virus in advance. If you want to stay away from cervical cancer, you must set up three lines of defense.

Level 1, Cause Prevention

The World Health Organization believes that HPV vaccination is the most effective primary preventive measure for cervical cancer, and it is recommended that women aged 9-45 should be vaccinated. Vaccination can effectively prevent most of the possibility of cervical cancer triggering, greatly reducing the risk of cancer.

Bivalent Vaccine: Prevents HPV Types 16 and 18

Quadrivalent vaccine: protection against HPV types 16 , 18, 6 and 11

Nine-valent vaccine: prevent HPV types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58

Level 2: Screening

For high-risk groups, regular inspections should be done to detect early tumor cases of precancerous lesions and early treatment.

The main screening methods include thin-layer liquid-based cytology TCT detection, human papillomavirus HPV detection . It is recommended that women who have sex have an annual test. If the test is normal for three consecutive years, it can be changed to a three-year test.

Level 3: Treat as soon as possible

For patients with cervical cancer who have been diagnosed, surgery or radiation therapy is performed as soon as possible. The treatment effect of early cervical cancer is very good, and the 5-year survival rate of stage 1 cervical cancer can basically reach more than 80%. But at stage 4, the 5-year survival rate is only about 20%.

In addition, develop good hygiene habits, healthy living habits, and improve immunity. Both men and women should love, protect and cherish their unique bodies.
