Are stones related to diet? Reminder: If you don’t want to be entangled with kidney stones, you need to develop these good habits

Obviously we eat fragrant rice and drink soft water, but there will be "stones" growing in our bodies!

  That's right, the disease I'm going to talk about today has only two words: stones!

  There are two main types of stone diseases with high clinical incidence in China. The first is the stones that appear in the gallbladder and bile duct, and the second category is the stones that appear in the urinary system. For example , kidney stones are one of them. It will not only appear On the kidneys, it also drains into the ureters and bladder. Judging from the current clinical data, ureteral calculi almost all come from the kidneys.

  According to the current clinical data, the formation process of kidney stones is caused by certain factors that cause the concentration of crystal substances in the urine to increase, or the solubility to decrease , resulting in a supersaturated state and the precipitation of crystals. The crystals grow and accumulate locally in the kidneys, eventually forming stones .

  There are many factors that affect the formation of stones, including age, gender, ethnicity, genetics, environmental factors, dietary habits and so on.

  In Chinese clinical practice, most of the morbidity of kidney stone patients are related to long-term unhealthy eating habits. If you don't want kidney stones to find yourself in the future, it is necessary to develop the following good habits from now on:

  1. Drink more water

  The kidney is the largest metabolic organ in the human body, and the kidney metabolizes harmful substances, in fact, it relies on its ability to generate urine. The main component of urine is water , which occupies about 95%, and the rest is a small amount of metabolic waste, including uric acid, oxalic acid, etc.

  Therefore, more or less urine production is directly related to drinking water. If urine production is low and the urine is too concentrated, crystals can build up in the kidneys, increasing the chance of stones. Therefore, from a clinical point of view, adults should drink at least 1500-2000ml of water every day;

  2. Limit purine intake

  Purines are divided into two categories: endogenous and exogenous . Endogenous purines refer to purine substances produced in the body. Exogenous purines refer to purines ingested through various foods, such as various animal soups, animal offal, seafood, soy products and so on.

  Long-term intake of a large amount of purine, purine will be metabolized in the body to produce uric acid. This substance needs to be metabolized and excreted by the kidneys. If the level of uric acid exceeds the standard, urate crystals will precipitate and accumulate in the kidneys , thereby increasing the risk of kidney stones. Therefore, purine intake should be controlled in the daily diet;

3. Control oxalic acid intake

  There are many types of kidney stones in clinic, among which calcium oxalate stones are the most common, accounting for about 60% of all patients .

  Therefore, if you want to prevent the appearance of kidney stones, you must first avoid eating a lot of oxalic acid-containing foods , such as spinach, beets and tomatoes, cocoa, chocolate , etc., which are all foods with high oxalic acid content;

4. Don't eat too salty

  After salt enters the body, it will eliminate a certain amount of sodium ions. Except for a small amount of this component used by the body, most of the rest will be metabolized by the kidneys into the urine. If the long-term intake of salt exceeds the standard, it will not only increase the metabolic burden on the kidneys, induce inflammatory reactions, but also increase the risk of kidney stones .

  Therefore, it is clinically recommended that everyone should try to maintain a bland diet and reduce the intake of high-salt, preserved food, and processed meat;

  5. Eat less high-sugar foods

  Excessive intake of high-sugar foods can also increase the risk of kidney stones. Because sugar will affect the body's absorption of calcium, increasing the concentration of oxalic acid in the urine. Calcium oxalate stones form when oxalic acid combines with calcium in the body .

  In addition, some sugar-sweetened beverages , such as carbonated beverages and processed fruit juices , can also accelerate the production of purines in the body , which in turn increases the chance of uric acid stones. Therefore, we should reduce the intake of these foods in our daily life.

  Finally, it should be emphasized that diet is only one of the reasons for the induction of kidney stones, and it is related to many factors.

  Therefore, not only do you need to adjust your diet in your daily life, but once you have typical symptoms such as renal colic and dysuria, you also need to seek medical attention for relevant examination and treatment as soon as possible, so as not to cause more harm to the body.
