'Eating too much sugar' is prone to diabetes? Reminder: In addition to sweets, these 4 types of food should also be eaten less!

Sweets have an irresistible temptation for the human body. After entering the body, it will stimulate the secretion of dopamine, which can not only relieve anxiety, but also give people the ultimate taste bud experience.

  Because of this, many people in life like to eat sweets. However, when they eat sweets, they also worry about a problem, that is: diabetes!

  According to the latest statistical report in 2020, the prevalence of diabetes in China has reached about 11.2% , with more than 120 million people suffering from diabetes . Diabetes has become the second most common chronic disease after hypertension.

  Although it is mainly characterized by high blood sugar, the consequences it brings are not just metabolic disorders. What really scares and fears patients is actually the various complications caused by diabetes, including cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, eye disease and so on.

In life, many people think of "excessive sugar intake " when they mention diabetes . However, according to the current clinical data, there is no necessary relationship between the nature of diabetes and sweets.

  Because normal people consume sugar, the body will quickly convert sugar into energy through insulin, or store it, and the blood sugar concentration will quickly drop below the renal glucose threshold.

  After diabetic patients eat sugar , the secretion of insulin has been blocked , or the cells are not sensitive enough to insulin .

  Therefore, the body cannot successfully convert sugar into energy, but instead allows the sugar to accumulate in the blood, enter the kidney with the blood, and quickly exceed the upper limit of the renal glucose threshold , thereby causing the symptoms of urine sugar . In other words, diabetes is mainly a problem with insulin secretion, which eventually leads to the symptoms of hyperglycemia.

  But it cannot be denied that diet is indeed closely related to diabetes, especially type 2 diabetes. A large number of research surveys have shown that the main environment for the onset of type 2 diabetes long-term sedentary, excessive food intake or high calorie intake . In this case, the body can develop insulin resistance, which can lead to high blood sugar and diabetes.

  So the question is, which foods should be reduced in daily life?

  1. Carbohydrates

  Foods such as rice, noodles, potatoes, and corn are not sweet, but they contain a lot of starch and carbohydrates. Excessive intake of carbohydrates is also one of the murderers that lead to elevated blood sugar;

2. Processed food

  Although most of the processed food tastes salty, a lot of preservatives, artificial flavors, bulking agents, food additives and sweeteners are added to these foods during the production process . The various flavors are mixed together, and the sweetness of the sugar is relatively weakened.

A related study pointed out that an increase in the intake of processed foods by 10%  per day in adults increases the risk of diabetes by about 15% ;

3. High-salt foods

  If you add a lot of salt when cooking, like to eat preserved food and processed meat, resulting in excessive salt intake, it will also increase the risk of diabetes.

  Because salt can lead to an increase in the secretion of "ghrelin" in the body , this substance will inhibit the normal secretion and work of insulin , and weaken the hypoglycemic ability of insulin . Moreover, ghrelin also increases appetite, which leads to unknowingly ingesting a large amount of food and eventually induces obesity;

4. High-fat foods

  This includes a variety of red meats, fatty meats, fried foods , and more. Although these foods are delicious, they contain excessive fat. Excessive intake for a long time will cause obesity.

  Finally, I would like to remind everyone that the appearance of diabetes is not only related to diet, whether it is type 1 or type 2 diabetes, it involves genetics. In the early stage of type 2 diabetes, most patients have no typical symptoms.

  Therefore, it is clinically believed that people with family history of diabetes and obesity history should not only adjust their diet, but also regularly seek medical attention for blood sugar screening to avoid hyperglycemia without knowing it.
