How to tell if your gut is healthy? Reminder: If there are no 4 abnormalities in defecation, it means it is healthy

We all know that there is an extremely complete digestive system inside the human body. The work that the digestive organs are responsible for is not just breaking down, digesting and absorbing food.

  At the same time, the remaining food residues will also become feces, which will be excreted along the intestines and anus. Among all organs, it can be said that the intestinal tract is the organ that integrates the most digestion, absorption and metabolism.

  In the eyes of many people, stool is the waste produced by the body's metabolism. Although it is true that stool has no use value for the human body, its formation process in the body is quite complicated after all, involving multiple organs, especially its formation is completed in the intestinal tract. Therefore, whether it is the frequency of defecation, the shape, color or smell of stool, it can reflect the health of the body.

  So the question is, what does a healthy stool look like, and what indicators should be used to determine it?

1. Defecation frequency

  From food to feces, it cannot be completed in just a few hours, and usually takes about 1-2 days. And different foods are digested and absorbed at different speeds, so the frequency of stool excretion is not completely fixed.

  From a clinical point of view, if a person develops his own unique defecation habit, the number of bowel movements is more than 3 times a week, and the stool is easy to pass and form, this is a healthy state .

  On the contrary, if this defecation habit changes, such as defecating multiple times a day and defecating less than twice a week, this may be a signal of the arrival of intestinal diseases;

  2. Stool shape

  In the case of a healthy digestive system, the feces excreted by a person should be cylindrical and snake-shaped, with moderate hardness.

  If the shape of the stool changes, such as passing watery stools, mucus-like stools, or dry stools showing small lumps, flat or thin strips of stool, depression marks on one side of the stool, or blood These are all manifestations of abnormal intestinal function.

  Especially if the stool becomes thinner and lasts for more than 2 weeks without any relief , you need to seek medical attention immediately, which is likely to be caused by the formation of abnormal space in the intestine;

3. Observe the color

  In the case of a healthy intestinal tract, affected by bile, the human feces are yellowish brown. If there is a sudden abnormal change in the color of the stool recently, especially the discharge of black tarry stool, but you have not eaten animal blood or black food recently, this may be a signal of gastrointestinal bleeding .

  Blood stays in the intestine for a long time, oxidizes, and then forms tarry stools, such as colorectal cancer, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis , etc., which may lead to gastrointestinal bleeding;

  4. Odor

  In addition to the above three points, you also need to observe the smell of stool. If the smell of stool shows a sour or foul smell , but the diet has been normal recently, it is likely to be caused by decreased digestive function and indigestion .

  In addition, if there is a rancid smell with a fishy smell in the stool, or the smell of rotten meat , especially the stench that occurs with mixed bloody stools , it is likely to be a signal of bowel cancer and needs to be checked in time.

  All in all, abnormal changes in stool should first be considered in terms of diet and medication.

  If the diet has been normal recently, but there are abnormal changes in the stool, and the symptoms have not been relieved for several days, or the body is accompanied by other symptoms, such as abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, etc., this is a signal of the arrival of the disease, and you should seek medical attention in time necessary.
