Fatty liver patients are often obese? Doctor: These people are also high-risk groups, don't ignore them

I don't know since when, fatty liver seems to have been absolutely equated with obesity and good living conditions. Everyone blindly believes that fatty liver is a disease of wealth, and obesity is its independent and only factor.

  But in fact, the so-called fatty liver refers to the excessive accumulation of fat in the liver cells, which is a pathological change.

  It has to be said that the prevalence of fatty liver in China has risen sharply in recent years, becoming the second most common liver disease after viral hepatitis, which is indeed related to the increase in obesity rate, living conditions and diet.

  But obesity has never been an absolute factor for fatty liver, it is just one of the reasons. The following groups of people may also suffer from fatty liver:

1. Long-term drinking

  Fatty liver is divided into two categories: alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The root cause of alcoholic fatty liver is long-term bacteria.

  Because alcohol needs to be metabolized by the liver, but in the process of ethanol decomposition and oxidation, the intracellular environment of the liver is in a reduced state , which in turn interferes with the metabolic synthesis of sugar, fat and intermediates , and a large number of fatty acids and triglycerides are synthesized in the liver. and accumulation, which in turn leads to the emergence of alcoholic fatty liver.

  A related research survey shows that 75-95% of long-term alcoholics who undergo liver biopsy have different degrees of fatty infiltration of liver cells;

2. Improper weight loss crowd

  Everyone knows that obesity can affect health, social, psychological and other aspects, so many people have joined the weight loss army. However, some people do not want to exercise. They want to take shortcuts to lose weight and lose weight quickly, so they choose blind dieting, complete fasting and other ways to lose weight.

  As everyone knows, although this can quickly achieve the effect of losing weight, it will lead to a large amount of body fat decomposition and water loss in a short period of time . During the process, the glutathione components in the liver will be consumed , and the malondialdehyde and lipid peroxides in the liver will be greatly increased , which will then damage the liver cells and lead to the appearance of fatty liver;

  3. Long-term malnutrition

Improper weight loss, long-term vegetarian diet, chronic digestive diseases , etc., may lead to malnutrition . Malnutrition not only increases the risk of hypoglycemia and hypotension, but is also a high risk factor for fatty liver.

  Because the consequence of malnutrition is the lack of protein , the liver cannot synthesize apolipoprotein, so a large amount of triglycerides accumulate in the liver, which eventually leads to the appearance of fatty liver;

4. Diabetes

  Some studies have shown that patients with type 2 diabetes are also at high risk of fatty liver . The reason for this is that type 2 diabetes and fatty liver have a common risk factor, which is obesity caused by eating too much and not exercising too much .

Nearly 50-80% of  adults with diabetes are obese. Fatty liver is related to the degree of obesity, as well as eating a lot of fat and sugar;

  5. Long-term drug users

  Studies have shown that if patients need to take certain drugs for a long time, such as tetracycline, adrenocortical hormone, puromycin, etc., after they enter the body, they will inhibit the synthesis of proteins, which in turn leads to the appearance of fatty liver. In addition, if you take lipid-lowering drugs for a long time, you can also cause fatty liver by interfering with protein metabolism.

  All in all, obesity is indeed a high risk factor for fatty liver, but it is not the absolute only factor. The above categories of people are more likely to suffer from fatty liver. Fortunately, fatty liver is a reversible disease. If the patient can actively cooperate with doctors to carry out relevant conditioning in the early and middle stages of fatty liver disease, the disease may be reversed.
