Is 'yellow face' a disease signal? Reminder: these diseases may be hidden behind, don't take it seriously
The four words "yellow face" must have been heard in our daily life. We often use it to describe a person's behavior after being frightened.
Some people also believe that malnutrition is the reason for the yellow face. However, if someone tells you that you can preliminarily determine the direction of the disease inspection by looking yellow, do you believe it?
In fact, with the continuous development of modern medicine and the continuous advancement of medical technology, people no longer trust the so-called "seeing, hearing, asking, and inquiring" inspection in traditional Chinese medicine. After all, in our opinion, the symptoms of many diseases are very similar, and it is impossible to judge the disease only through the symptoms of the body surface. Everyone is more willing to believe the evidence detected by medical equipment.
But in fact, there are many clinical examination directions for diseases, and it is necessary to make a preliminary judgment based on the patient's personal signs and symptoms. If a person's complexion has been very normal before, but suddenly there is an abnormal change recently, especially the skin, eye sclera and mucous membranes are abnormally yellowed, this is not simply malnutrition, but jaundice finds its own performance!
So the question is, what exactly is jaundice, and what disease is it related to?
First of all, here is a special substance called "bilirubin" , which is one of the bile pigments and the most important pigment in bile, which is orange-yellow.
Under normal circumstances , bilirubin is actually the main metabolite of iron porphyrin compounds in the human body. It has certain toxicity and can cause irreversible damage to the brain and nervous system, but at the same time, it also has antioxidant functions. Oxidation of linoleic acid and phospholipids can be maintained.
Under normal circumstances, bilirubin is metabolized in the liver and participates in the production of bile. Once the absorption, metabolism and excretion of bilirubin are abnormal , and the concentration of bilirubin in the blood increases, hyperbilirubinemia can develop .
Jaundice is precisely the clinical manifestation of hyperbilirubinemia. Patients may have symptoms such as yellowing of sclera, skin, mucous membranes, and other tissues and body fluids. Its essence is a comprehensive pathological process of bilirubin metabolism disorders .
From a clinical point of view, there are many reasons for jaundice, which are divided into two categories: physiological and pathological . Physiological jaundice usually occurs in newborns. There is only one possibility of jaundice in adults, which is pathological jaundice. Judging from the current clinical data, adult jaundice may be related to the following diseases:
1. Liver diseases, such as viral hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, other types of hepatitis, liver cancer , etc.;
2. Gallbladder diseases , such as gallbladder or bile duct stones, gallbladder cancer, gallbladder polyps , etc.;
3. Pancreatic cancer , because pancreatic cancer may compress the lower end of the common bile duct, invade the common bile duct or metastasize to the liver , and eventually cause jaundice.
In addition to the above three diseases, acute infectious diseases, metabolic diseases, blood diseases, etc., may be combined with jaundice. However, in most cases, jaundice in adults is related to liver disease, so the indicator of bilirubin is not only an important basis for judging jaundice, but also one of the important indicators of liver function.
If the total serum bilirubin exceeds the normal range, the body will have obvious symptoms, which is clinically called gross jaundice . If the patient's total bilirubin exceeds the standard, but the body has no obvious manifestations of jaundice, this situation is called recessive jaundice.
In a word, the complexion is abnormally yellow and dyed, and accompanied by multiple symptoms such as dark brown urine, clay-colored stool, and itchy skin, this may be a signal that jaundice has found itself.
Patients should pay more attention, actively seek medical treatment for screening, inform the doctor of their symptoms in detail, and start symptomatic treatment after finding the cause.
