The 'New Blood Sugar Standard' has been announced, and it is no longer 3.9~6.1. It is recommended to check yourself
According to relevant data surveys, in recent years, the number of people suffering from hyperglycemia in China is increasing day by day, and even gradually tends to be younger. High blood sugar is not terrible, what is terrible is the complications caused by high blood sugar, such as diabetes.
Therefore, when you find that your blood sugar is high, you must actively cooperate with the doctor for treatment. In addition, you should also pay attention to keeping away from high-sugar, high-fat, high-calorie and spicy foods in your diet. Develop regular work and rest habits, regular physical examinations, etc., which can help us better control the stability of blood sugar.
What harm does high blood sugar do to the body?
Long-term high blood sugar, if it is not controlled by diet and drugs in time, it is likely to form chronic high blood sugar, which will affect the heart, brain, blood vessels and other organs.
Long-term high blood sugar may also lead to faster metabolism in the body, resulting in increased food intake and obesity in patients.
Impaired renal function, high blood sugar or large fluctuations in blood sugar can lead to the occurrence of diabetic kidneys, and eventually it will develop into renal failure, and uremia will occur in severe cases.
Vision loss. When blood sugar is at a relatively high value for a long time, the human retina will also be damaged, which will eventually cause everyone's vision loss, and even blindness in severe cases.
The "new blood sugar standard" has been announced, and it is no longer 3.9~6.1. It is recommended to check it yourself
According to the latest blood sugar standard value published in 2022, the fasting blood sugar level should be between 3.9 and 6.1 mmol/L. Outside this range, if it is above this value, it can be judged as hyperglycemia, and if it is below this value, it is hypoglycemia. The value should not be higher than 7.8 mmol/L two hours after eating.
There are great differences in blood sugar levels in different age groups, so we cannot generalize when measuring blood sugar, otherwise it will easily lead to blood sugar instability, complications, and even bring great trouble to the body.
1. Teenagers (12~20 years old)
The normal fasting blood sugar level should be kept between 4.4-6.1mmol/L, and the postprandial blood sugar level should not be higher than 8.0mmol/L.
Teenagers are in the growth period, their body metabolism is vigorous, and their demand and consumption of blood sugar are relatively large, so the standard of normal blood sugar is relatively strict.
If the blood sugar level of teenagers is lower than 4.4mmol/L for multiple measurements, or higher than 8.0mmol/L after meals, parents need to pay attention and go to the hospital for professional doctor consultation. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the control of children's diet, especially for children who prefer sweets and are obese. The intake of sweets and carbohydrates must be strictly controlled, and children should exercise more to avoid affecting their growth and development due to high or low blood sugar.
2. Middle-aged stage (30-50 years old)
At this time, middle-aged people are in a state of balancing family and work. Constantly socializing at work in order to live better, these people pay little attention to what they eat, which is more likely to cause blood sugar spikes in the long run.
A fasting blood sugar between 3.9-6.0mmol/L is normal. When the fasting blood sugar is between 6.0-7.0mmol/L, it belongs to high fasting blood sugar. When the fasting blood sugar is greater than 7.0mmol/L, diabetes may exist.
It is normal for blood glucose to be lower than 7.8mmol/L two hours after a meal, and it is abnormal glucose tolerance if the blood glucose is between 7.8-11.1mmol/L two hours after a meal. If the blood sugar is greater than 11.1 two hours after a meal, diabetes may exist, and a re-examination at a different time is required. If you are a diabetic patient, fasting blood sugar should be lower than 7.0mmol/L, and non-fasting blood sugar should be lower than 10.0mmol/L.
Middle-aged people generally have high blood sugar. You should change your usual bad living and eating habits. Once high blood sugar occurs, please seek medical attention immediately, otherwise it may cause blood sugar to soar.
3. Elderly stage (people over 50 years old)
The normal range of blood sugar in the elderly is not significantly different from that of normal people. For all people, the fasting requirement is 3.9-6.1mmol/L, that is, to stop eating and drinking for more than 8 hours, generally 8-12 hours, and no longer than 14 hours.
Postprandial blood sugar refers to the blood sugar after eating the first meal until 2 hours later, and the normal value is 3.9-7.8mmol/L. However, for the blood sugar control range of the elderly, it can be changed appropriately.
Especially for elderly patients aged 80-85, blood sugar can be appropriately relaxed. For example, fasting blood sugar is controlled below 7mmol/L, and postprandial blood sugar is also acceptable below 10mmol/L. The specific blood sugar range needs to be determined according to the patient's condition. Not all patients can relax the index, which is not conducive to blood sugar management and control.
