You really can't eat peanuts when you drink, why? Reminder: 3 kinds of food try not to make snacks
In China, the view since ancient times is that "drink in moderation, nourish your body and mind", especially baijiu, so many drinkers cannot accept the saying that " drinking is harmful ".
@BlueLove:
There is neither pure good nor pure bad in the world, as long as it is in moderation, it is harmless. I believe that drinking in moderation is good for health, so I drink two or two high-level liquor every day. Now I am 55 years old, my body is very healthy, and all the indicators are normal, only the protein A is slightly higher.
@Laugh at life:
I don't agree that drinking can cause cancer. My uncle drank every day and lived to be 97 years old without any cancer. There are also people around who drink every day until they are eighty or ninety years old, and they are in great health.
In addition, in recent years, peanuts have been hailed as "the best appetizers" . It is said to have the effect of nourishing the stomach and relieving hangovers .
Is drinking alcohol good for health? Can peanuts really be paired with wine? Today's article tells you.
1. A drink is good for health? Harvard: Beware of heart disease!
There are a number of claims and evidence that drinking small amounts of alcohol may be good for your health.
For example, European studies have shown that light alcohol consumption may reduce cardiovascular disease risk and all-cause mortality. The BMC study pointed out that drinking a small amount of alcohol per week may be associated with a lower mortality rate from cardiovascular disease.
These statements undoubtedly cheered drinkers: finally found a reason to drink!
But in fact, there are more or less loopholes in these "evidences" . Recently, research published by Harvard University pointed out this question and gave the real answer.
In March 2022, the JAMA sub-journal published a study on " Drinking and Health ," a collaboration between researchers at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard . The longest follow-up period of the study was 10 years (2006-2016 ), and 371,463 participants were included , with an average age of 57 years , of which 46% were male, and averaged 9.2 standard drinks per week.
Preliminary findings showed that among the participants, light drinkers had the lowest risk of heart disease, followed by abstainers, while heavy drinkers had the highest risk.
Does this conclusion just confirm that "a small amount of alcohol is good for health"? Unfortunately not.
Further analysis showed that light drinkers had better cardiovascular health, in fact, because they had a better lifestyle . Compared with moderate and heavy drinkers, they were more physically active, ate more vegetables and smoked less.
Next, the research team used nonlinear Mendelian randomization to try to find a causal relationship between alcohol consumption and disease risk.
The final results showed that even small amounts of alcohol consumption increased the risk of cardiovascular disease after "lifestyle differences" were excluded, and that the risk of cardiovascular disease increased exponentially with increased alcohol consumption .
Second, when drinking, can you eat peanuts?
There is a saying that drinking with peanuts can relieve hangover and nourish the stomach. Is it true?
The protein content of peanuts is about 25%~30%, and the fat content is as high as 40%, which has a certain effect on delaying alcohol absorption and reducing stomach irritation. But "delaying alcohol absorption" does not mean "hangover" ! Hangover refers to accelerating the metabolism of alcohol, and peanuts do not have this function and cannot increase the amount of alcohol.
In fact, if you want to delay alcohol absorption, many other foods can do it, and peanuts are precisely the one that is least recommended . why?
First of all, peanuts are high in calories and are high-fat foods. Excessive intake can easily increase cholesterol and uric acid levels and affect body weight. Secondly, peanuts are not easy to digest . If it is a patient with cholecystectomy and a patient with gastrointestinal disease, they should stay away from it as far as possible due to the decreased digestive ability. Finally, when drinking with peanuts, it is easy to take one bite after another, which can lead to excessive intake.
Therefore, regardless of whether you drink or not, you should eat less peanuts, especially fried peanuts , which are more harmful to your health.
3. These snacks should be eaten as little as possible
When drinking alcohol, people like to order snacks, but did you know that eating certain snacks regularly can be harmful to your health, so try to eat as little as possible and don’t overdo it .
·barbecue
After the food is grilled, it will not only lose nutrients such as protein and vitamins, but also may produce harmful substances such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and benzopyrene . Alcohol will dilate the blood vessels of the digestive tract and damage the mucosa of the digestive tract. If you eat barbecue while drinking, it will make the body easier to absorb these harmful substances .
· Raw and cold seafood
Many people like to eat seafood when they drink, especially raw and cold seafood such as raw fish sashimi and drunk shrimp, but this also carries risks.
"Seafood and drinking, gout will follow." Most seafood is rich in purines, which will increase the level of uric acid in the human body, and alcohol will also increase the level of uric acid. If uric acid cannot be excreted in time and deposits in the joints or soft tissues, it may cause redness, swelling, heat pain in the joints or soft tissues, induce hyperuricemia, and even develop gout .
·animal organs
Pig livers, pig farms and other animal offal are common appetizers. First, the price is cheap, and second, the taste is unique. However , the purine content of animal viscera is high , and frequent intake of large amounts can increase the level of uric acid in the body, causing hyperuricemia, gout and other diseases.
Secondly, most animal offal is high-fat food with high cholesterol content. Regular consumption may cause diseases such as hyperlipidemia, reduce the elasticity and hardening of blood vessels, and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
So how can we protect our bodies when drinking alcohol? It is recommended to do the following 4 points.
Be sure to limit the amount of alcohol you drink. The Dietary Guidelines recommend that your daily alcohol intake should not exceed 25 grams ( equivalent to a bottle of beer or a small glass of red wine ) for men and 15 grams for women .
Before drinking and when drinking, try to consume as much fresh vegetables and fruits, mushrooms, soy products, grains and other staple foods to increase satiety and delay the absorption of alcohol.
Choose low- alcohol alcohol to reduce the damage of alcohol to the body, and at the same time avoid mixing different alcohols, which may speed up the absorption of alcohol.
Drink more water when drinking to promote the metabolism and excretion of alcohol. Do not drink too much or get drunk.
Of course, the safest way is to not drink a drop of alcohol! Even small amounts of alcohol can cause damage to the body and increase the risk of diseases such as cardiovascular disease and cancer. Drinking is a harmless thing, please treat it rationally.
